Some of the most satisfying work in the workshop involves repairs or extending the lifespan of leather products. Leather has the fantastic quality of being almost impossible to destroy forever. It can be dry, but it can be revitalized. The stitching may have come undone, but it can be stitched again.
The Engineer’s College Shoulder Bag Now Stands in the Executive Office

A beloved shoulder bag from college days has followed this customer through the years, and he now works as an engineer in one of the most recognized companies in the country.
Time has been tough on the bag, but the sentimental value was high, and extending its lifespan was paramount to him. The bag became – not like new – but 100% functional again.

This is the customer’s grandfather’s hunting bag. Strange as it sounds, it was both bone-dry and filled with old mold in the pockets.
An additional challenge was that the worn areas were completely matte, whereas the original leather was textured and glossy. Therefore, a double treatment was required: first, redyeing the worn areas, and subsequently establishing an appropriate “shine” on those sections to match the original leather.
Furthermore, the straps were very dry and were soaked in oil for an appropriate amount of time to revitalize them – and it succeeded.
A fantastic bag, which I am very pleased to have been given the responsibility for.

These highly exquisite Lederhosen represent top-tier craftsmanship and are well worth a repair.
They belonged to the customer’s father and have partaken in Oktoberfest for many years.
The button loops in the waistband had come loose, so the waistband had to be unpicked, and the loops restored with new stitching on both the loops and, of course, the waistband itself.
At the same time, the trousers received a couple of new buckles, as one of the originals had snapped.

If you own a pair of shoes or boots, like these 6-year-old Blundstones, and they are simply your absolute favourites, there is hope if it is only the upper leather that has dried out a bit and cracked.
I can revitalize and restore the leather with a view to extending its lifespan.
This is a time-consuming task, as there is significant drying time between the individual steps in the process, so please expect some turnaround time.
