Sheath for a beloved Kitchen Knife

If you need to bring grandma’s old kitchen knife along in your luggage, a solid sheath can be the solution. (In fact, that goes for any other sharp knife as well ;-))
If you want to pamper it with an extra exclusive “wrapping”, this could be the ideal choice.
The sheath is crafted from two layers of 2mm saddle leather, tooled with a pattern, and subsequently hand-dyed and stitched with a contrasting thread.
Sheath for a German Family Knife
Here is the finished sheath.

This example including a PDF is meant to illustrate the process of crafting a custom hand-stitched sheath to measure. [1]
This knife is a family heirloom belonging to a German forest owner who wanted a more robust solution than the old sheath, which was no longer worth preserving.
If you need a new sheath for one of your own special knives, I will require the knife itself to build the sheath around it. You will see why if you take a look at the PDF below.
It is an extensive process, and the PDF shows the steps involved. There are many things that can go wrong, and the image displayed here on the page is actually the 2nd version of the sheath for Germany. In my opinion, the fit of the 1st attempt was simply not satisfactory, as the shape of the handle did not suit a single strap. Therefore, I made another one with two straps
And here is the PDF describing the process – based on the 1st attempt 😉
